CO2 Pacman Tool

The tool consists of a interactive platform designed to support stakeholders, primarily public authorities, in the transition to climate neutrality. It is inspired by a classic video game and is able to turns complex climate data into an engaging experience. After delivering the GHG Report, i.e. the greenhouse gas inventory of the chosen territory, the user can design its decarbonization strategy/pathway by selecting from a range of 28 available policies and behavioural changes. Every policy choice is tested as it immediately shows its impact on emissions and uptake, making the consequences of the user's decisions tangible. Among the strategies that can be tested with the tool are behavioural changes, renewable energies (including Blue Energy), sustainable mobility, circular economy solutions, and more efficient energy use in buildings.
The main objective of the tool is to enhance institutional capacity, improve the quality of local climate planning and foster shared ownership of the transition. It supports public administration in defining integrated strategies, it helps stakeholders to understand the consequences of different policy choices and encourages the active involvement of local communities in shaping their climate neutral future.
